A Blazin Christmas

Christmas is my FAVORITE time of year, but for the last 3 Christmases, we have had some major life change going on the prevents me from fully reveling in the joy of the season and relaxing in our own home. 2007: Tommy is born early December, so we have a screaming, non sleeping baby by Christmas. 2008: have just moved from Jax to Nashville and are living with Jim and Nanci. 2009: move out of our house BACK in with Jim and Nanci on Christmas Day to demolish and re-do our kitchen! Needless to say, Christmas at our house was neither relaxing nor reveled in. We woke up early, thanks as always to Tommy, opened about 3 presents (all for Tommy since we didn't get eachother gifts), we then took DOWN our Christmas decorations, I packed Tommy and me and we spent the day at Gina's/Jim and Nanci's while Ryan did demo.

It wasn't the Christmas I envisioned but fun in its own way! We were relaxing at Jim and Nanci's with a fire in the fire place when all of a sudden the room filled with smoke and fiery debris started falling down from the chimney. Within seconds, a neighbor had called the Fire Department because flames were shooting from the chimney outside and they rushed over to the house to put out the fire. It couldn't have been any more fun for Tommy seeing REAL firemen in all their gear tromping through Nana and Pops house. And really, Nana and I didn't mind either since the firemen were all good looking, except we did feel a little guilty that they had to come out on Christmas Day. The lesson was, get your chimney swept yearly, and we spent the rest of the day with lots of love and fun memories but no cozy fire!
